Camp Enchantment, or Camp E, is a week long camp for children who have or had cancer. Camp is what all of the counselors, staff and campers dream about all year long. For the campers it is a place where they can be who they really are. They can be kids. Our staff is made of predominantly volunteers from all over the United States.

Because the dance deserves its own post...We are posting pictures from Friday day now and will hopefully get the Friday night photos up by tonight if not by the morning!
Today the campers had their classes. The teens had the option of doing the Flying Squirrel, which is another high ropes element! After lunch we gave the groups plenty of time to relax, nap and pack up their stuff. Many of the kids went swimming again this afternoon and some of the kids are already getting ready for the dance. Alchemy Hair Studios in Albuquerque sends fabulous volunteers up to do hair, makeup, temporary tattoos, nails etc. EVERYONE has a blast getting ready!

HAPPY THURSDAY! Can't believe how quick the week is going by, all of us are starting to wish that Camp Enchantment was not just a week but SEVERAL weeks! We can dream big!
Thursday was filled with rock climbing with the juniors and kayaking! The teens were recovering from their Teen Trek. In the afternoon we had a foam party. There is an inflatable pool that gets filled with foam. The campers and counselors get to run around inside the pit and have a grand time! There was s slight issue with the fact that it was soooooo windy! The foam would get filled up in the pool, a giant gust of wind would come and the foam would be flying through the air!
Last night was the talent show! We already know that we have the most amazing campers at our camp, what we did not know was how many talented kiddos we do have! We were serenaded with so many beautiful voices and laughed until our stomachs hurt with all of the comedians! Such an incredible opportunity to watch these kids blossom throughout the week and inspiring to watch them do things they would not normally have the courage to do!

One of the jars that was created for the memorial circle that was held on Thursday evening. It was such a beautiful event. It made for a super late night, which is why it took us some time to get this post up.

The [Post Thursday Night] Post

This is the video we shared with the Campers last night. We show this following the Memorial service. Enjoy!

What do you mean it is WEDNESDAY?!

Why is it that when you are having so much fun that the time just flies by?!!! The whole Camp woke up in time for the hot air balloons starting at 6:30 AM!!! (YAWN!!!) We are having such a wonderful time, (most) of the kids didn't even notice we were up so early since they were all smiling. The wind was OUT OF CONTROL today. The kiddos were not able to go fishing today, and we couldn't fully keep the hot air balloon inflated. We did enjoy our annual Frontier cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate. Next the kids learned how to make their own tissue paper hot air balloons, inflated them, and then we launched them! They were so excited!!! After lunch the Teens prepared for Teen Trek and the Juniors went to Kayaking, Arts & Crafts, and Boat Whittling. The Teens had Blake's Lot-A-Burger for dinner tonight!!! After a delicious spaghetti dinner, the Juniors traveled down to the gym for their movie on the Big Screen while in the comfort of their own sleeping bags. They had popcorn, nachos, and Kahona Ice came out for a special dessert treat!  Channel 7 came out today and interviewed our campers and staff, and the story will run on Thursday during the 5:00pm News! So tune in and SEE what our Campers are doing!

The Campers helping open the balloon!

We tried our best to launch, but the wind (look at the right of the balloon) prevented us.

Cinnamon Rolls & Hot CHOCOLATE!!!!

"Frontier Cinnamon Rolls, OH YEAH!" - Counselor Thomas

The Campers had a BLAST making their very own hot air balloons. Again, the wind prevented from a good launch so we did our best and launched inside the gym! The Campers had SO MUCH FUN putting all the balloon pieces together, and then seeing them float.

The campers were divided in groups, outside of their normal cabin or counselor groups to work on team building and having fun!

The kids are so proud of their creation!

10. 9. 8.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The campers love doing countdowns as their balloons launch EVERY single time! :)

After lunch the Campers did some "art with intention" to think about, reflect, and even express some emotions about losing fellow campers and loved ones from Camp E. The Campers created "Memory Jars" by painting them, covering them with tissue paper, glitter, filling them with found objects from outside like pine cones, leaves, pebbles, and even writing letters to fill the jar. Thursday night we hold our Memorial Service and will place glow sticks inside the jars, place them around the pond, and let the light from the jars represent those we have lost. The campers also whittled Ivory soap bars into small boats as memorials that we will float on the pond tomorrow night.

Some of the completed Memory Jars finished by our Teen Girls.

WE ARE HAPPY!!! The weather today was BEAUTIFUL! Also we woke up to fabulous camp coverage in the Albuquerque Journal. Two separate articles! Needless to say we have a few camp celebrities today and Counselor Tito said he will sign autographs!
Today was full of all sorts of outdoor activities! The weather finally cooperated and the kiddos were able to go fishing, mountain biking, kayaking and swimming. The teens also got to do the high ropes course today. It was a three element course with a zip line at the end. They also did a separate element called "The Leap of Faith" or "The Power Pole." We will let the photos do the explaining!
This afternoon we all went swimming and had such a blast playing in the water! After swimming the kids had down time in their cabin, which included showers and naps for most of the campers. They had to rest up for the carnival this evening. There were bouncy houses, jousting, racing and other carnival games and lots of prizes to be won!
ZZZzzzzzzzzzzz.......Now it is time for sleeping bags and sweet dreams because tomorrow is an early morning with hot air balloons, hot chocolate and Frontier cinnamon rolls.
